Ultimate Guide to Eating Vegan at Beaches and Sandals Resorts
This is an unofficial guide to the vegan food options at all Sandals and Beaches resorts – this is not endorsed by the Sandals company.
If you are vegan or follow a plant-based diet and you are wondering what you will be able to eat when you visit a Sandals or Beaches all-inclusive resort, you have come to the right place! Rest assured that no matter which resort you select, you will have plenty of options to choose from and the restaurant staff will do everything they can to ensure you have an incredible dining experience. In order to help you plan for your vacation in paradise, we have compiled all the available information about vegan options below. This table will be updated whenever we visit a new resort or if we find out about a menu change. Sandals recommends meeting with each resort’s on-site Culinary Concierge if you follow a special diet or have allergies / food sensitivities. The concierge can share ingredients lists in the menu items and can help you navigate the dining experience to stay safe. If you have any concerns at all about eating from the menus, the Culinary Concierge should be one of your first stops after arriving at the resort.
If you work with us as your travel agent, we will make a point to contact the resort in advance to advise them of your food preferences / restrictions and to inquire about whether there are any off-menu items they may be able to procure or prepare for your visit. Once you are at the resort, we still recommend speaking to the chefs at the various restaurants and the Culinary Concierge to find out if they can make or modify any items if given a couple days advanced notice.
Below is our unofficial database of vegan (or possibly vegan) food items at Sandals and Beaches resorts. Please note that this table is best viewed on Desktop and is not formatted for mobile viewing. To enhance your viewing experience, we recommend clicking in the table at the top where it says “Grouped by 3 fields” and choosing “Collapse All” so that you can have a condensed view. You can then expand each section one at a time. The records are grouped by Country, then by Resort name, and then by Restaurant name. For additional tips about using the data, please refer to the notes below the table. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. If you are ready to book your trip, you can email or fill out or quote request form.
Please note the following when referencing this table:
- If you are concerned about potential cross-contamination in your food (such as from shared fryers, shared cooking surfaces, shared cooking utensils, etc.) then please ask to speak to a chef and ask what menu items can be prepared without the potential for shared equipment.
- Sandals and Beaches do not publish their definition of “vegan.” It is possible that commercially prepared food items could include trace quantities of animal-derived (or potentially animal-derived) ingredients such as dough conditioners, flavor enhancers, white sugar (possible bone char use), etc. If this is a concern, then you may want to ask to see ingredient lists for any processed foods being served or ask about the type of sugar being used, and similar.
- This list is not comprehensive and does not include certain items that appear to clearly be vegan (for example, fruit juices, coffee, etc.).
- Note that items at buffets are not likely to be marked vegan, so you will need to ask to speak to a chef to have them provide information about vegan options. If you ask nicely, they might be able to prepare something for you that is not offered on the buffet. For example, at Beaches Turks & Caicos I noticed that they had an omelette station and asked if they could do a vegan version. The kitchen chef was called out and he told me they could prepare a tofu scramble. The tofu was well seasoned and delicious and I was so glad I had asked!
- This list is checked against the resort website and updated as needed approximately every 6 months. Keep in mind that menu items and suppliers can change at any time, so be sure to double check when you visit the resort whether these items are still vegan. If a menu item shown here is not shown on the menu at the resort, you can consider asking if the item is still available or if they can make it for you. The worst they can say is no!
The following are explanations for the various “Vegan Status” options:
- Confirmed Vegan: This is an item that we haver personally experienced on property and double checked any suspect ingredients to confirm the item is vegan.
- Confirmed Vegan Modifiable: This is an item that we haver personally experienced on property and double checked any suspect ingredients to confirm the item can be modified to be vegan.
- Marked Vegan: This is an item that is marked vegan on the menu posted on the resort website and does not appear (based on the menu description) to include any obviously suspect ingredients.
- Marked Vegan Upon Request: This is an item that is marked on the menu as having a vegan option available or that it can be made vegan upon request.
- Likely Vegan: This is an item that appears to be vegan based on the description but does not have a vegan label on the menu (this status is typically used if the menu does not have any markings for vegetarian or vegan, suggesting that some items may be vegan but just aren’t labeled as such).
- Possibly Vegan: This is an item that could be vegan depending on how it is prepared (for example, could have unlisted butter to cook vegetables) based on the description but does not have a vegan label on the menu (this status is typically used if the menu has vegan options marked but this item doesn’t have a vegan marking even though the description does not contain suspect components).
- Marked Vegan but Suspect Ingredients – Need to Check: This is an item that is marked vegan on the menu but has components/ingredients listed that may be from animal-derived sources. While there is a chance that a vegan version of these ingredients may be used, it usually appears unlikely. The suspect ingredients are listed in the next column in the table. If these are in fact animal ingredients, it may be possible in some cases to ask for them to be removed.
- Marked Vegetarian but May Be Vegan: This is an item marked vegetarian on the menu but based on the description may also be vegan (this status is typically used when the menu does not appear to include a vegan key at all, suggesting they did not attempt to distinguish between vegetarian and vegan).
- Possibly Vegan Modifiable: This is an item that is not marked vegan and has components that appear to clearly be animal-derived but that may be able to be modified by removing or replacing components to make the dish vegan. This will need to be confirmed with the chef at the restaurant. Suspect animal ingredients that would need to be removed or replaced are listed in the table (but there may be others).
- Confirmed Vegan Options Available: This status is used when the item listed is a grouping of multiple items (such as a buffet) and which we have confirmed through personal experience includes vegan options.
- Some May Be Vegan or Vegan Modifiable: This status is used when the item listed is a grouping of multiple items (such as a buffet) and some of the items have the potential to be vegan or vegan modifiable but this can’t be determined from the online menu.
You can also use the filtering and sorting tools to adjust the view to your preference. For example, if you would like to only view items that are either marked vegan on the menu or have otherwise been confirmed to be vegan, then choose the Filter option at the top, then click “Add condition”. In the first drop down box, scroll down to “Vegan Status”. In the second drop down box, choose “Is any of”. In the third drop down box, mark off all the categories of interest such as “Marked Vegan” or “Confirmed Vegan” or “Marked Vegan Upon Request”. If you discover a mistake in the table or have experience about certain vegan items that you would like to share, please contact us.
